District Chief Executive of Wassa East, Emmanuel Boakye is accusing the Forestry Commission for destroying the forest in Daboase.

” The workers of the Forestry Commission are responsible for destroying the forest. They scheme together with people who steal log of trees from the forest,” He said.

He made this revelation on Spice FM during an interview.

According to him, there has been countless times that personnel of the Forestry Commission have been conniving with people to fell trees illegally.

He recounted an incident where the Forest guards willingly gave out log of trees to a person as they had no money to settle their transportation fares.

It was on this note that some forest guards also presumed that the same persona were transporting logs of trees illegally and decided to pursue them.

Mr Boakye notes that about 3 persons lost their lives in an accident due to the pursuance by the forest guards.

He is however, keen on fighting to save the vegetative cover in his district from illegal tree fellers.
