CSA, CID Joint Swoop At Adom City Nets 39 Cybercrime Suspects

A joint operation by the Cyber Security Authority (CSA) and the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) has resulted in the arrest of 39 individuals at Adom City Estate, Tema Community 25, Greater Accra, in what officials describe as a significant crackdown on cybercrime networks.

According to preliminary reports, the suspects were apprehended in the early hours of Thursday, August 21, following intelligence-led surveillance.

Among those arrested were three minors and one woman suspected to be an escort linked to one of the alleged ringleaders.

Law enforcement officers say the operation targeted a suspected cyber fraud hub believed to have been operating within the residential enclave.

The raid was carried out under heavy security, with digital devices, laptops, and other materials reportedly seized for forensic investigation.

Authorities confirmed that all 39 individuals have been taken into custody and will be transported to the CID Headquarters in Accra for further questioning and profiling.

CSA officials emphasised that the clampdown forms part of a wider national strategy to combat online fraud, financial scams, and related cyber-enabled crimes that continue to affect individuals and institutions across Ghana.

The Cyber Security Authority has urged the public to remain vigilant against fraudulent online activities, while the CID has assured that due process will be followed, particularly with regard to the minors arrested during the operation.

This operation adds to a growing list of cybercrime-related raids in Ghana as authorities step up enforcement against the rising threat of internet-based criminal activities.
