Court Slaps GH¢6K Cost Against ‘Side Chick’ In Case Involving Banker

Court Slaps GH¢6K Cost Against ‘Side Chick’ In Case Involving Banker

An Accra High Court has slapped a former national service person, Deborah Seyram Adablah, with a cost of GH¢6,000, in a sexual harassment case.

The court also struck out First Atlantic Bank’s name from the case following a motion filed by lawyers of First Atlantic Bank.

The legal team for the bank had asked the court to award the cost of GH¢50,000, but Ms. Adablah’s team pleaded with the court to reduce it to GH¢5,000.

It will be recalled that the plaintiff, Ms. Adablah, became famous after details of the suit against the Director of Finance of First Atlantic Bank, Ernest Kwasi Nimako, emerged on social media.

Per the suit, the two appeared to have been in a romantic relationship, but things turned sour when the defendant Mr. Nimako breached an agreement to take care of her.

Ms. Deborah contends that her ‘sugar daddy’ agreed to buy her a car, pay for her three-year accommodation, and give her a monthly stipend of GH¢3,000.

The Director of Finance also promised to marry her after divorcing his wife and give her a lump sum to start a business.

It is her case that the ‘sugar daddy’ bought the car but registered it in his name.

Later, he denied her access to use it after about a year of enjoying the Honda Civic worth GH¢120,000, while he also paid for only one year of accommodation.

She further states that she had turned down an opportunity to be a permanent staff after her national service due to the manager’s promise of making life comfortable for her.

But all the promises and assurances failed to see the light of day.

It is on these grounds that the plaintiff filed the suit. The substantive case is still hanging as numerous interim applications have stood in the way of the case.

As it stands now, the car in question has been seized by the court pending the determination of the main case.

There is also an application by Ms. Adablah’s team asking the court to set aside the order to hand over the car to the court registry.

Mr. Nimako has also filed a contempt application against Ms. Adablah for a series of interviews with various media portals.
