Court restores Danadams Pharma CEO’s bail conditions 24 hours after been revoked

Danadams Pharma CEO Yaw Adu-Agyei Gyamfi has his bail restored 24 hours after revocation, with conditions maintained for health and reporting requirements.

The High Court in Accra has restored the bail conditions of Yaw Adu-Agyei Gyamfi, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Danadams Pharmaceuticals Industries Limited, 24 hours after they were revoked.

This follows an application filed by his new lawyers, led by Paul Asibi Abariga, a day after the bail conditions were revoked by the court presided over by Justice Marie-Louise Simmons.

On Wednesday, March 4, 2026, the High Court in Accra had revoked the bail conditions granted him earlier due to his lawyers failure to disclose accurate information about his travel plans to the court, having missed three court sittings without official notification to the court.

In court on Thursday, March 5, 2026, his new counsel, Paul Abariga, while moving an application for the rescission of the bail, apologized for the missteps that led to the action of the court.

Counsel pointed out to the court that his client’s deteriorating health situation required urgent medical attention and urged the court to exercise its discretion in his favour.
Amerley Agyeman, representing the Attorney General, opposed the grant of bail, pointing out to the court that the applicant had violated the conditions of the bail previously granted him.

Justice Mrs. Simmons, after listening to submissions from the parties, rescinded her earlier decision to revoke his bail conditions.

While rescinding the bail conditions revoked on Wednesday, the court said he should remain on his GHc6 million bail conditions granted him in 2022, with three sureties, two of whom are to be justified.

Specifically, the court said he should deposit his US passport and any other travel documents in his possession to the registry of the court at 9:00 am on Monday, March 9, 2026. He is also to report to the investigators once every two weeks at the police headquarters or any other officer assigned.

The court said the applicant is to go home today (Thursday, March 5) and produce his passport to the registry of the court on Monday and to appear in court on March 17 at 11 am for hearing of the case.

Adu-Agyei Gyamfi is facing charges for alleged defrauding by false pretense, uttering of forged documents, and money laundering, and had pleaded not guilty.

What happened before?

On Wednesday, March 4, 2026, Justice Marie-Louise Simmons had rescinded his bail after it was revealed that his lawyers (then) had misled the court about his whereabouts, having missed three sittings without formal notification to the court.

The court had been informed that the accused person was out of the jurisdiction, but investigations revealed that he was actually in the country.
