‘Coup d’état Happens When Gov’t Fails To Listen’ – US Economist Warns Akufo Addo Over E-levy

‘Coup d’état Happens When Gov’t Fails To Listen’ – US Economist Warns Akufo Addo Over E-levy

Dr. Sa-ad Iddrisu, an American economist, warns the government against imposing the E-levy on Ghanaians.

Another explanation for the high number of coups in Africa, according to Dr. Iddrisu, is the inability of African governments to address citizens’ concerns.

Since 2020, there have been four coups in Africa, according to the economist on Radio Tamale’s political take program.

“You’re elected as a government to provide what the people want, not always have your way,” he remarked.

Dr Iddrisu argued that the E-Levy will exacerbate Ghanaians’ problems.

According to the current situation in parliament, the public do not want the E-levy, but the government wants to proceed with their numbers in parliament, including the independent candidate. Some of these issues need government attention.

“You are elected to government to provide what the people want, not to get your way all the time, because it creates unneeded tensions that might lead to a coup”, he remarked.
