Corruption has taken root in our politics – Political Analyst

Corruption Has Become A Profit-making Venture For The Political Class – Expert
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

A Political Analyst Clement Adu Acheampong  has bemoaned the level of corruption in Ghanaian politics saying, it remains the biggest obstacle to the development of the country.

According to him, anti-corruption institutions have been crippled by politicians which is making it difficult for them to function properly.

His comments was in reaction to the Member of Parliament for for Sefwi Wiawso in the Western Region, Kwaku Afriyie, who stated that it has become difficult for parliamentarians to maintain their seats due to the increasing monetization of politics.

He expressed his frustration, particularly within his party, highlighting what he termed as a disturbing trend where party executives demand money before exercising their franchise.

But speaking on Plan B FM’s ’Nkosuo Nsem’ with Obidehye Kofi Sakyi, Mr. Adu Acheampong chided politicians for doing nothing to curb monitisation of politics which he believes is the root cause of corruption in Ghana.

He added that, the political class have rendered state institutions responsible for educating and fighting corruption less effective.

He called on the media to take it up and educate the public on the dangers of corruption and also demand accountability from the our leaders.
