Consume More Cocoa To Boost Your Immune System – Cocoa Clinic Chief Pharmacist

Dr Edward O. Amporful, Chief Pharmacist of Cocoa Clinic and a member of the Cocoa Consumption Committee of the Ghana Cocoa Board, today has urged Ghanaians consume more cocoa products as it has been universally acknowledged that it has huge health benefits which cures Cardiovascular Diseases (CVD).

Speaking after the official commissioning of a sales outlet at Kasoa, as part of Cocoa Processing Company’s (CPC) celebration of this year’s World Heart Day, Dr Amporful noted that people should desist from relying on other medication for the treatment of their heart related diseases but rather they should drink more cocoa which according to him, is healthier and cheaper.

He adds that the continued consumption of cocoa has the potential of reducing the challenges of heart related diseases as well as reduction of blood clots within one’s blood cells. He stated that it can also improve one’s immune system to fight other diseases.

According to Dr Amporful the regular intake of cocoa can improve one’s memory and general brain functions as well as promote nourishment or health of brain cells. He pointed out that contrary to what is expected of Ghanaians towards the consumption of cocoa, a lot of people rather choose not to consume it and rather opt for foreign imported alternate products.

“This attitude is not good enough on the part of Ghanaians. They should understand that the health benefits of cocoa is so huge that it can cure heart related diseases, melt blood clot and minimise worrisome changes that accompany menopause in women as well as afford anti-cancer and cancer prevention properties” Dr Amporful remarked.

He lauded the Cocoa Processing Company for getting involved in activities aimed at education Ghanaians on the need to take care of their hearts, adding that choosing to open a sales outlet in Kasoa is appropriate as way of celebrating ‘World Heart Day’.

The celebration of the day was initiated by the World Heard Federation which seek to place emphasis on the need for people globally to pay attention to their hearts especially with diseases that are related to the heart, which according to health experts, kills about 17.9 million people annually.
