Computerized Placement System One Of The Best Initiatives In Our Educational System – Ekua Obimpe

The Public Relations Officer (PRO), of the Tema Metro Education Directorate, Madam Ekua Attah Obimpe has lauded the implementation of the Computerized School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS) into our second cycle institutions as one of the best things to ever happen in Ghana’s educational system, which has been in existence for over a decade now.

Various Stakeholders in the educational sector have called for a national debate to review or abolish the CSSPS citing issues and challenges which has bedeviled the system since its introduction in 2007.

She made this known in an interview with Ohene Addo on Plan B FM’s morning show “Nkosuo Nsem”, she said despite the challenges; the system has chalked huge success.

“The CSSPS is a good initiative which has helped the poor and the rich to access equal and   quality education and also to choose schools of their choice. It’s one of the best things in our educational system,” she said

“It may have it challenges when it comes to the selection and placement, but we’ve always collaborated with parents to resolve the situation to make sure that no child is left out in accessing quality education”

Madam Obimpe also stated that, “It was compulsory for parents to guide their wards in choosing a day school as their first choice school, at least 16km from where they live”

“Candidates are posted to schools outside their regions because they couldn’t pass or get good grades in the five core subjects and this is done by self-placement,” she explained

In conclusion, she urged all parents to remain calm and assured them that their wards who took part in the BECE this year will all be enrolled and enjoy the FREE SHS Programme
