The political temperature in Akwatia is rising fast as the constituency prepares for a crucial by-election following the passing of NPP MP Hon. Ernest Kumi. In a charged appearance on the radio show Nkosuo Nsem, NPP communicator Richard Anning sparked controversy with a bold warning to the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
“Any NDC member who thinks he is a man should come to Akwatia constituency in the incoming by-election—we will face them boot for boot,” Anning declared. His remarks have stirred debate, with some viewing them as a rallying call to action
Anning went further to urge party supporters to remain bold and fearless at the polls, stating, “Go out there and vote. If you allow yourself to be shot by any person, then you deserve it.” His words have drawn sharp criticism from observers who fear such rhetoric could inflame unrest.
