CJ Removal: Mahama Dealing On A Well-Orchestrated Petition – NPP

2024 Election: Anyone who misbehaves would be shot dead – NPP’s Richard Anning
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Richard Yaw Aning, a Communication Team Member of the opposition New Patriotic Party for the Tema Central Constituency, has accused President John Mahama of orchestrating the removal of Chief Justice Gertrude Araba Esaaba Sackey Torkonoo through a “well-orchestrated petition”.

Speaking on Plan B FM’s Nkɔsoɔnsɛm programme with host Obidehyie Kofi Sekyi, Aning claimed the President’s actions are driven by a desire to remove the CJ at all costs. He also criticised the constitution for favouring the Executive and called for the abolition of the Council of State, describing it as a “toothless bulldog”.

In response, Anthony Sam-Anoom, Assemblyman for Republic Electoral Area and Communication Team Member for the NDC in the Tema Central Constituency, defended the President’s actions, stating they are constitutional.

”The #SaveTheJudiciary Demonstration will not yield any positive outcome,” Sam-Anoom said.

“Some of the demonstrators didn’t even know the purpose of the demo or what was written on their placards, they just joined for political points.
