Ace Sports Journalist ,and the Executive Director for the Coalition for Proper Human Sexual Rights and Family Values Moses Foh-Amoaning has called for support for new Black Stars coach Chris Hughton.
He says that the former Newcastle, Brighton boss is keen to achieve success with the Black Stars and must therefore be given enough time and the necessary support to succeed.
The Irishman with a Ghanaian father was appointed as the new Black Stars coach last month replacing Otto Addo who left the role after Ghana’s exit at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar last year.
Speaking in an interview with Plan B FM, after Ghana ‘s AFCON 2023 qualifier 1-0 win over Angola in Kumasi on Thursday March 23, 2023, Foh Amoaning urged the entire nation to support the new coach.
“We are now trying to rebuild our team, I was surprised people taught we were going to the world cup to win it. This is a young team, i will urge Ghanaians to rally behind the team and support the coach. Let’s give him more time to build a formidable squad for the future” he stated.
He attributed Senegal’s football success story to the immense support and time given to their coach Aliu Cisse who won the AFCON in 2022. He thus call on Ghanaians to emulate same.
“Look at the number of coaches we have appointed in the last two decades, it hasn’t been helpful. Thankfully Chris Hughton is a Ghanaian and a topnotch coach with a good CV. I was sad when I heard he has been given a two year contract. He needs more time at least four years to succeed” he stated
