John Ato Breboh, Deputy Chief Investigator at the Tema Sub-Regional Office of the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice, has warned CEOs against unfair dismissals of staff, particularly high-achieving employees, which are often driven by self-interest and undermine trust and progress within the organisation.
Speaking on Plan B FM’s Nyansapɔ Fie show with hostess Nana Asabea, Breboh emphasised that CEOs must adopt a dynamic approach to decision-making, avoiding stagnation and recognising the value of input from their subordinates.
“CEOs should consider the views of their staff and acknowledge those who go the extra mile,” he said.
“The decisions taken against subordinates by CEOs must be lawful, fair, and reasonable. CEOs should always issue warnings and conduct thorough investigations, query them before resorting to dismissal, which should be a last resort when issues arise.”
By adopting this approach, organisations can ensure that employees are treated fairly and can reap the rewards of their hard work.
Breboh urged CEOs to prioritise fairness and transparency in their decision-making processes, ensuring that employees’ rights are protected.
Call to Action:
“We encourage all CEOs and organisational leaders to review their HR policies and ensure that they are aligned with the principles of fairness, transparency, and accountability. Let’s work together to create a work environment that values and respects the rights of all employees.”
