The Head of Monitoring Unit of the Ghana Forestry Commission, Mr. Charles Owusu has resign from the Commission with immediate effect.

He joined the Forestry Commission when he was appointed by the late Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie, who was the then Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Forestry Commission. Mr. Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie popularly referred to as Sir John was once a General Secretary of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).

Sir John, died sometime last year after report emerged that he contracted the deadly Coronavirus (COVID-19) and was buried on Thursday, June 3, 2021.

Charles Owusu who until his resignation some days ago, became the Head of Monitoring Unit of the Commission during President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo first term.

He reported to have since his appointment played instrumental role in preserving and restoring the country’s forest reserves which has seen serious depletion due to illegal activities by some unscrupulous persons.

He told listeners during the show that his resignation has no connection with the death of Sir John. He intimated that he rather feels he has done an adequate job adding that it was time someone else continue with his good works at the Commission.

”As I currently sit here, I have written to the Forestry Commission that I want to rest. I have resigned from the Forestry Commission,” he told the host of the radio show he was on.
