Character weaknesses in workplaces can make and unmake institutions – Leaders cautioned

Character weaknesses in workplaces can make and unmake institutions – Leaders cautioned

Plan B Fm’s family, relationship, and lifestyle show dubbed NYANSAPO FIE, hosted by Dr. Michael Asenso on the topic “CHARACTER WEAKNESS IN WORKPLACE”.

Madam Kessewa Nortey stated that one top character weakness is when a manager has poor communication skills.

Strong communication is essential for managers, as they’re responsible for giving directions and feedback to their employees, preparing written reports, and completing other tasks that involve communication.

She said another character and weakness is not listening to employees.

“As a manager, it’s important to listen to the feedback your employees give you so you can improve yourself and your workplace” she stated

Showing your employees you’re listening to them can make them feel like you value their work and opinions, which can boost employee morale and make them feel more engaged. She added

Rev. Roger Carl Parkins, a regular guest on the show also said teams and organizations can benefit from employees who are confident in their knowledge, skills, and ideas, but employees who avoid considering others’ point of view can make communication and development difficult.

This can prevent teams and the organization from reaching their goals. If you find it difficult to consider others’ ideas and opinions, you might become more open-minded by recognizing that others’ views are as important to them as yours are to you. Take time to consider this and provide useful feedback instead of dismissing new ideas.

Rev. Emmanuel Aning explained that being cautious about taking significant risks at work can prevent you from making mistakes, but some risks can help you and your team grow. Sometimes, applying new concepts to your work allows you to improve, and you may find you like this approach better than your previous one.

You can learn to take potentially beneficial risks at work by talking about the opportunity with colleagues and management to gather feedback, focusing on the overall goal of the decision instead of the minor details, and setting a time frame that allows you to take your time approaching it.
