The Black Galaxies of Ghana on Sunday, July 24, 2022 handed Benin a 3-0 drubbing at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium in the first-leg of Round 1 of the CHAN qualifying series.
The game saw three Accra Hearts of Oak players score one in the first half and two in the second half to win the game.
Ghana broke the deadlock early , with Daniel Afriyie Barnieh scoring from the spot after Augustine Randolf’s cross came off the hands of a Benin player in the box.
It was more of the same for Ghana in the second half as Mohammed Alhassan doubled Ghana’s lead.
Ghana then took a commanding lead as Gladson Awako curled in the ball to hand the Black Galaxies a 3-0 win.
Ghana have missed out on the last three editions of the Championship of African Nations
Should Ghana hold on to their 3-0 advantage, they will face Nigeria in the second round of the qualifiers in order to book a slot in the Championship of African Nations to be hosted in Algeria in 2023.
