Chairman Wontumi receives report on cause of NPP’s ‘abysmal’ performance in 2024 elections

The Ashanti Regional branch of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has received a report from a committee set up to investigate the party’s defeat in the 2024 elections.

The report by the committee led by Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu engaged the grassroots, markets, churches, mosques, and communities to hear directly from the people.

In a post shared via social media, the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Benard Antwi Boasiako popularly known as Chairman Wontumi said “Now, with these findings, we will work closely with the larger party structure to correct our mistakes and reposition ourselves for victory”.

Read his statement below

Following our painful defeat in the 2024 General Elections, I, through the Regional Executive Council, constituted a committee led by the respected Hon. Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu to investigate the reasons behind our loss. Today, the committee submitted its report to the Regional Executive Council after an extensive probe.

This committee was formed even before the National Council constituted a National Committee, demonstrating our commitment to understanding the root causes of our challenges. In a united effort, we reached beyond party executives and engaged the grassroots—markets, churches, mosques, and communities—to hear directly from the people. This approach ensured that every voice was heard and every concern noted.

Now, with these findings, we will work closely with the larger party structure to correct our mistakes and reposition ourselves for victory.

Like David in 1 Samuel 30:8, we shall “pursue, overtake, and recover all.” The 2028 election is ours to win, and the journey starts now—with you and me, united in one accord.

Let’s come together, rebuild, and secure victory for our party and Ghana!
