The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Member of Parliament ( MP) for Cape Coast South, George Kweku Ricketts-Hagan, has urged the government to use the gains being made from the sale of Ghana’s oil on the world market to cushion Ghanaians through further reduction in fuel prices. According to him, the windfall from the sale of the country’s crude oil could be used to help reduce the prices of fuel locally.
Mr Ricketts-Hagan, who is also a former Deputy Minister of Finance during President John Mahama’s administration, made the suggestion in an interview with the Daily Graphic in Parliament House.
In Authority of this Bohyeba Afriyie had an eloquent interview with Mr Sampson Addae head of Research and Pricing at COPEC on plan B Fm’s Ebanoosen stated that the former Minister’s suggestion will help but some percentage should be invested in the cedi as well because as it stands the prices of fuel has reduced in the global market but because of the cedi depreciation it might not benefit us.
He said that the Government must work extra head to stabilize the value of the cedi because it’s a major cause the Economic hardship facing the country now.
He concluded that If what the MP suggested is practiced it will help a lot .
