Captain Jesus has called for stronger Christian upbringing and discipline among children, warning that the growing acceptance of sinful behaviour in society is becoming a major concern.
Speaking on Plan B FM’s Nkosuonsem, hosted by Obidehyie Kofi Sekyi, Captain Jesus said children who are properly taught Christian values and how to grow in Christ from an early age are more likely to develop into responsible adults.
He noted that failure to instil the right values at the appropriate stage of a child’s development could create difficulties later in life, as individuals may be forced to learn lessons they should have acquired during childhood.
Captain Jesus cited the Roman Catholic Church, Presbyterian Church of Ghana and Seventh-day Adventist Church as examples of Christian institutions that provide teachings intended to promote discipline and Christian values among their members.
He said individuals who receive proper Christian training can grow to become teachers and positive influences in society.
However, Captain Jesus expressed concern about some parents who, he said, become overly protective of their children and resist attempts by others to correct them.
According to him, some parents even discourage others from disciplining their children, insisting that they should wait until they have children of their own before offering advice.
He warned that such attitudes could contribute to indiscipline and unacceptable behaviour among children.
Captain Jesus therefore called for Christian education to be strengthened in schools, particularly through local languages, to help children better understand and practise Christian values from an early age.
He also raised concerns about declining discipline in schools, saying some children now disrespect elderly people without receiving appropriate correction.
He believes stronger parental guidance, Christian education and discipline are needed to address the behavioural challenges confronting society
