Medeama Sporting club begun their CAF Champions League campaign with a slender 1-0 win over Nigerian side, Remo Stars at the Cape Coast in the 1st leg of the Preliminary round.

The 2022/2023 Ghana Premier League Champions started the game well and were rewarded in the 21st minute, when striker Jonathan Sowah put the hosts in front.

Medeama tried to double their lead before the break but were unable to, as the visitors remained resolute at the back.

Remo Stars returned from the break looking to find the leveler but Medeama were able to hold on to secure the win.

The second leg of the tie will take place next week in Nigeria at the Remo Stars stadium Ogun State and  Medeama will be looking to book their place in the 2nd stage of the CAF Champions League Preliminary round.

The winner of the tie will face Guinean giants Horoya AC in the second preliminary round.
