The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has recovered the body of a schoolgirl found deceased in a pool of water in Kasoa. The tragic incident occurred on the night of Monday, June 23, 2025.

The GNFS reported in a statement issued on June 24, 2025, that they received a distress call at 10:02 PM. A rescue team was immediately dispatched, arriving at the scene by 10:28 PM and successfully retrieving the body at 10:42 PM.

The deceased has been identified as Gloria Segoe, a student of Keta Business Senior High School in the Volta Region. Reports indicate that Gloria had obtained permission from school authorities to visit her grandmother in Agbozome. However, she reportedly traveled to Kasoa instead, allegedly to visit her boyfriend, with whom she is believed to have been staying for nearly three days.

According to the GNFS, the boyfriend reported himself to the Kasoa Police Station after learning of the incident. He reportedly informed the police that he had left for work earlier in the day and was later notified of the tragedy.

The body has since been handed over to the Ghana Police Service for further investigation. The GNFS commended its personnel for their swift and professional response and extended its condolences to the family of the deceased. The service also urged students and young people to exercise greater responsibility regarding their movements.

Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
