A renowned political analyst and financial engineer, Dr. Alex Emmanuel Nti, has blamed the monetisation witnessed during the just-ended New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearership election, held nationwide on January 31, 2026, on the party’s executives.
According to him, had the party leadership done its homework by adequately considering the welfare of delegates, there would have been no need for money-sharing.
He explained that it is the responsibility of the party to cater for delegates by ensuring their transportation, feeding, and general welfare are well taken care of on voting day, arguing that once these needs are met, financial inducements become unnecessary.
“If someone invites me to a programme, my transportation and general well-being must be taken care of,” he stated.
Dr. Nti made these remarks while speaking on Plan B FM’s EBANOSEN during a review of the party’s reforms aimed at limiting the influence of monetisation in its primaries over the years, as outlined by Hon. Hackman Owusu-Agyeman, Chairman of the NPP Council of Elders.
He further defended both delegates and aspirants, insisting that the situation arose because the party’s leadership failed to adequately perform its responsibilities.
