The Black Princesses of Ghana have drawn goalless with their counterparts from Mexico in an international friendly match ahead of the 2024 FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup.
Both U20 women’s national teams have qualified for this year’s World Cup and are preparing to make a mark when the tournament starts in Colombia.
The friendly match was played at Centro Deportivo Choquenza in Bogotá on August 22, 2024.
The Black Princesses had a slow start to the contest but managed to grow in strength as the game progressed. Throughout the game, both teams had chances to score, but neither side could capitalize, resulting in a stalemate at the end of the friendly exercise.
The Black Princesses played against Mexico’s U-20 Women’s team (El Tricolor) to keep in shape ahead of the FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup. The friendly also provided a valuable opportunity for Coach Yussif Basigi to fine-tune his squad in readiness for the biennial competition in Colombia.
Mexico has qualified for the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup and is in Group A alongside host Colombia, Cameroon, and Australia. The Black Princesses, on the other hand, are in Group E and will play against Austria, Japan, and New Zealand.
Although Ayew attracted interest from Saudi Arabian clubs this summer, he is now poised to make a permanent switch to Leicester City.
