When Larry Agyekum Junior made attempts to let go of his car; a black 2019 Mercedes GLE 43, he had no idea his life will depend on it, and if he did, he would have listened to his twin brother, Larry Agyekum Senior. Senior, a resident of Washington in the US, in October 2019 bought and shipped a black SUV belonging to the Mercedes family to Ghana to be used by the Agyekum family in Ghana.
Unfortunately for the Agyekum’s, Larry Junior suggested they sell the car and run a family business from selling cars. Yes, we sell it, and we use the same money to by another one. The profit becomes our capital, Larry Junior said when the car arrived in Ghana in January 2020.
With a piece of paper, Larry Junior printed the words ‘Buy Me’ boldly on the car with his phone number and started parking the car along roadsides to catch the attention of others. It was with that strategy that made four brothers; Acheampong Kwesi, Donkor Kofi, Nana Yaw Donkor and King Donkor, develop an interest in the car.
The brothers with Larry Junior finalised everything about the car and agreed on a payment before giving Larry 100% of the car payment. The four brothers after the payment insisted Larry take them on a test drive and they should be made to drive the car on their own to determine the capacity and strength of the car. The money was not handed to Larry but Larry was made to see it before the brothers took the car to a test drive.
This is the money sir, as the four brothers opened a bag containing the amount of money Larry Junior had asked for. After the test drive, we can pay you and take the car away, the brothers stated. Larry after seeing the cash, agreed to the test drive but had no idea it was a set up for the car to be stolen. Larry Junior texted a message to his junior brother, Sylvester Tawiah Agyekum. Sylvester Tawiah, the younger brother of the twins (Larry Junior and Senior), followed the instruction of the text message from his brother and sought a one hour break from his bosses at the Sunyani Police station, where he is a Lance Corporal at.
With a motorcycle, Sylvester Tawiah followed the test drive from a distance. Just a few miles from Sunyani, on road to Kumasi was when Sylvester saw the car making a slight moment on the road. That was where his brother Larry Junior was injected with a drug from his back. One of the four brothers, Kwesi Acheampong, had injected Larry Junior from the back seat with the drug hoping he will sleep.
They pushed Larry from the car and made away with the car. Sylvester phoned the national ambulance service and Larry was picked from the roadside while he kept chasing the four brothers for the car. With a police backup waiting at Bechem, on the Sunyani to Kumasi road, the four brothers were arrested yesterday evening.
Larry Junior is still in critical condition while the perpetrators of his suffering are behind bars at Bechem. All four had denied injecting Larry with the drug but doctor’s report from Sunyani Hospital states emphatically, Larry Junior was injected with Pethidine injection.
