The director of Aid-Life Herbal Research Hospital Dr. Eric Amoah has explained that an autoimmune disease is as a result of the immune system accidentally attacking the body instead of protecting it. It’s unclear why thr immune system does this.

Speaking on APOMUDEN FIE a weekly health show with Ohene Addo on Plan B Fm, Dr Amoah said Autoimmune diseases are one of the top 10 causes of death especially in women, which needs rapid attention.

He stressed that some autoimmune diseases can affect the ability of a woman to get pregnant and some have adverse effects on pregnancy.

“There is a higher risk for stillbirth or preterm birth if you have lupus. If you have myasthenia gravis, you may experience trouble breathing, he stated. Signs and symptoms of autoimmune diseases one need to serious attention to are Dizziness, Headaches, Anxiety and depression, Confusion and difficulty thinking, Blurry vision, Insomnia, Memory issues, Migraines, Numbness, and tingling, but not all of these signs could be an autoimmune disease but regular check-ups can help in early treatment”

Dr. Amoah then advised the general public especially women to make their health a priority and go for regular check-ups whenever they feel uneasy in their body.
