The Metro Director of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) for Tema Metropolitan Assembly, Ms. Gifty Agyeiwaa Badu
is amazed that an institution as crucial as hers, is not prioritised in terms of resources it needs to work.

Discharging the Commission’s duty, according to Gifty Agyeiwaa Badu is a huge sacrifice, having described her outfit as a “very tough terrain”. Narrating her ordeal, she said workers have to contend in executing their mandate, she disclosed that the challenges go beyond the lack of vehicles which is the most evident of the general public.

Speaking in an interview with Plan B News on Wednesday, 18 September 2024 in an Inter-Party Dialogue Committee Meeting held by Tema Metro NCCE, the Director indicated that the lack of premium on the Commission’s resources and logistics looking at how pivotal it mandate is, is still a mystery to them.

“Our institution ‘NCCE’ and the staff are among the most hardworking in the public sector because working in NCCE, you need love for the job because it’s a huge sacrifice. It is a very tough terrain. Our resources does not end at vehicles” she stated.

“I sometimes have to use my personal car to execute National duties of the NCCE, sometimes I struggle to fuel the car myself. We are ready and fully prepared to discharge our duties but the logistics are not there which makes the work difficult. On behalf of my office and staff appealing to the general public, individuals, stakeholders and philanthropist to come and assist us with logistics” she noted.

She ended by applauding the Management of Free Minds Communication which Plan B FM works under and the staff for the free airtime given to them to educate the public as part of their social responsibilities and also thank the Tema Metropolitan Assembly (TMA) for the kind gesture given them.’
