The opposition National Democratic Congress NDC is blaming the ruling New Patriotic Party NPP for vote buying, sharing of Ghs200, Tv sets and decoders, and other goodies among some constituents as they elect their representative today.
Speaking to the Tema West constituency deputy communication officer of the NDC Nana Hemaa Nhyira Frimpong on Plan B FM morning show NKOSUONSEM, she alleged that NPP has brought in some buses fully loaded with people from other constituencies to Assin North to cause mayhem.
Over 40,000 voters in the Assin North constituency in the Central Region will go to the polls today, Tuesday, June 27, to elect their next representative in Parliament.
Three candidates are vying for the seat: James Gyakye Quayson of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Charles Opoku of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), and Bernice Enyonam Sefenu of the Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG).
The Electoral Commission (EC) scheduled the by-election for June 27 following the nullification of the 2020 parliamentary election won by Mr Quayson.
Speaking to our reporter Oheneba from Assin North confirmed that EC has put in place the necessary measures and the election started at exactly 7 am in all the polling stations.
