Asante Kotoko have agreed to release head coach Eric Tinkler from his contract with immediate effect following a request from the South African coach for personal reasons.
In a statement dated September 28, 2026, the club said its Board of Directors engaged Tinkler in discussions in an attempt to prevent his departure but ultimately respected his decision.
The statement said both parties held “meaningful negotiations” to avert the decision at this stage of their relationship, but the coach’s request was eventually accepted.
“Asante Kotoko maintains that professionalism, unwavering commitment and total focus are crucial to achieving the key performance indices it has set to meet its present objectives,” the club said.
The Porcupine Warriors expressed gratitude to Tinkler for his professionalism and commitment during his relatively short spell at the club, while wishing him well in his future endeavours.
The club added that its sporting objectives remain unchanged, with the technical team expected to continue implementing its strategies under the leadership of Director of Football Stanley Purl Menzo.
Tinkler’s departure comes after a brief stint in charge of the Kumasi-based club.
