Arise Ghana, a pressure group, is planning to picket at the American Embassy in Accra to demand the repatriation of Ken Ofori-Atta, Ghana’s former Finance Minister. Ofori-Atta is currently facing corruption charges and has been declared a fugitive by the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP).
Speaking on Ebaanosen with Listowel Nana Poku, Converner for Arise Ghana said the group is likely to express their frustration and disappointment with the slow pace of justice, emphasizing that Ofori-Atta should face trial in Ghana. The US Department of Justice and the FBI have reportedly given Ghana the green light to extradite Ofori-Atta, citing that the investigation is legitimate and not politically motivated. The Ghanaian government is pushing for Ofori-Atta’s return to face charges related to corruption and financial crimes.
According to Nana Poku, Loot money should be used to contract roads in the rural areas and name them ‘ It was Loot money with pictures ” he concluded. Emphasising that the most corrupt who worked in public office is Ghana’s formal finance minister Ken Ofori Atta.
