Antoine Semenyo fires Man City to FA Cup glory

Antoine Semenyo fires Man City to FA Cup glory

Antoine Semenyo etched his name into FA Cup history with a moment of brilliance as Manchester City edged Chelsea 1-0 to lift the trophy at Wembley on Saturday, May 16, 2026.

In a final short on clear-cut chances but packed with tension, it was the Ghanaian forward who produced the decisive spark.

Semenyo met Erling Haaland’s clever assist with an audacious flick that left Chelsea stunned and City celebrating their eighth FA Cup triumph.

The goal, already being described as one of the great FA Cup final finishes, perfectly reflected the confidence Semenyo is currently playing with.

Surrounded by defenders inside the box, the forward improvised brilliantly, guiding the ball beyond the goalkeeper with a delightful flick that proved enough to separate the two sides.

Robert Lewandowski announces Barcelona exit after four years

Chelsea battled throughout and will feel unfortunate not to have been awarded at least one penalty after appeals for a foul involving Abdukodir Khusanov were waved away.

Despite their pressure and spells of possession, they struggled to find a breakthrough against a disciplined City side determined to add another trophy to their collection.

For Pep Guardiola, the victory means Manchester City have now secured both domestic cups for the second time under his leadership. While replicating the historic domestic treble from the 2018-19 season remains unlikely, City’s latest success once again underlines their dominance in English football.

The triumph also takes Manchester City level with Chelsea, Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur on eight FA Cup titles, with only Arsenal and Manchester United having won the competition more times.
