A member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Communication Team in the Tema Central Constituency, Samuel Anoon, has praised President John Dramani Mahama for directing a major expansion in recruitment into Ghana’s security services.
Speaking on Nkosuo Nsem on Plan B FM, hosted by Obidehye Kofi Sekyi, Mr. Anoon described the move as a step in the right direction, noting that it will strengthen the country’s security architecture and boost manpower across the agencies.
According to a statement issued by the Presidency on Monday, the directive follows a high-level meeting chaired by the President, involving heads of the security agencies, as well as the Minister for the Interior and the Acting Minister for Defence, to review the ongoing recruitment exercise.
Following a briefing, President Mahama ordered that the intake of personnel be doubled from 20,000 to 40,000 over the next four years.
Mr. Anoon further expressed confidence in the government’s ability to sustain the expanded recruitment, stating that prudent resource management will ensure that funds are available to cater for the increased number of recruits.
