The Ga West Municipal Assembly has announced the temporary closure of the Amasaman China Mall following the collapse of a section of the facility on Sunday, December 28.
According to the Assembly, the incident led to the destruction of goods in the affected area, with two people sustaining injuries.
The victims are currently receiving medical treatment.
Speaking to Channel One News, Chief Executive of the Ga West Municipal Assembly, John Desmond Sowah Nai, attributed the collapse to issues of structural integrity, citing preliminary findings by the Municipal Security Coordinating Council (MUSEC).

“MUSEC took a decision to temporarily halt operations. We have asked China Mall to stop operations temporarily until further notice,” he noted

He assured the public that all recommendations and findings by the Ga West MUSEC would be fully addressed before the mall is allowed to resume operations.
