The Public Relations Officer (PRO), of Alliance Drivers Association (ADA), Kwaku Boateng has appealed to government and private institutions to support them with Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in the fight against COVID-19.

In an interview with Plan B FM morning Show, ‘Nkosuo Nsem’ Kwaku Boateng said they lacked nose masks, hand sanitizers and handwashing facilities and needed support to contain the spread of the virus at their various stations and vehicles.

“We are appealing to the authorities to provide us with face mask, hand sanitizers to help curb the spread of the virus; In most cases, the association had to supply nose masks to some commuters who couldn’t afford to get one, even though a nose mask goes for GH¢1, it doesn’t come easy for many,” he said.

Mr. Boateng also called on the government to reduce fuel Prices before they can stop taking in full capacity as part of measures to easing the spread of COVID-19 in the transport sector.

“We are asking the govt to reduce fuel prices for us before we can aslo reduce the number of people we take; without that, it will be very difficult for us and will have a negative impact on daily sales when we take fewer passengers”

“Most of us lost our jobs and wife’s when we were directed to take fewer passengers last year, we are pleading with the authorities to reduce the fuel prices. We don’t want to go back to the dark days”. He added
