Prominent football administrator and owner of Division One League club Berekum Arsenal FC Alhaji Yakubu Moro has been confirmed dead in Accra.
The Berekum Arsenal Bankroller passed away on Thursday night after a short illness at the Greater Accra Regional Hospital (Ridge Hospital).
The outspoken football administrator had been unwell for a considerable amount of time and was receiving treatment in Berekum. Following the deterioration of his condition, he was referred to Ridge Hospital in Accra where he gave up the ghost.
Under Alhaji Moro’s management in the year 2000, Berekum Arsenal were promoted to the Ghana Premier League carrying on until 2013 when they were relegated.
In 2006, Berekum Arsenal qualified for the CAF Confederation Cup but were knocked out in the second round by Angolan giants Petro Atletico.
He will be remembered for producing players like John Paintsil and Emmanuel Agyeman Badu for the Black Stars. Alhaji Moro known to be in his late 60s will be laid to rest today according to Islamic rites.
