Black Stars defender Alexander Djiku has been slapped with a one game ban for failing to comply with a sports betting ban in France.

Djiku was hit with the ban earlier today and he will miss RC Strasbourg’s game against reigning French Ligue 1 side Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) on Wednesday, December 28 as a result.

The Black Stars centre back was one of 76 individuals implicated in the betting controversy for not respecting rules laid down by the Ligue de Football Professionnel (Professional Football League).

The French League returns later this month after the 2022 FIFA World Cup induced break; PSG leads the league standings with 41 points ahead of RC Lens 36 point tally.

28 year old Djiku is coming on the back of his maiden World Cup campaign with Ghana’s Black Stars in Qatar.

Djiku featured in two of Ghana’s three games in Group H against Portugal and South Korea but missed out on Ghana’s 0-2 loss to Uruguay that eliminated Ghana from the competition.
