The Akuse District Police Command has launched investigations into the circumstances surrounding the tragic deaths of two female prison officers following a road accident early Saturday, December 6, 2025.

The crash occurred between the Akuse Junction and the VRA Junction within the Akuse township. Details of how the incident occurred remain unclear.

Two male prison officers who were also in the vehicle, a Toyota Corolla with registration number GS 4817-17, sustained multiple fractures.

They were initially taken to the Akuse Government Hospital but were later referred to St. Joseph Hospital in Koforidua due to the severity of their injuries.

Citi News sources indicate that the devastating news has plunged personnel at the Akuse Local Prison in the Lower Manya Krobo Municipality into deep shock and grief.

While colleagues mourn the two officers who lost their lives, many are also praying for the recovery of those still receiving treatment in Koforidua.
