Former Chief Executive of Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA), Osei Assibey Antwi has been has appointed by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to head the National Service Scheme (NSS).
Mr. Assibey Antwi’s appointment was announced in a letter signed by the Chief of Staff. According to the letter the former KMA Mayor will operate in an acting capacity pending the advice of the governing board of the scheme and consultation with the Public Service Commission.
“Kindly indicate your acceptance or otherwise of this appointment, within 14 days of receipt of this letter” portion of the appointment letter read.
Mr. Osei Assibey Antwi had been the KMA Mayor from 2017 until 2021. He is reported have expressed interest in being re-nominated for a second term until he withdrew.
The former has since been replaced with Mr. Samuel Pyne.
