‘Akuf-Addo’s Comments Against CSO’s ‘Unfortunate And Disappointing’ – Political Analyst

‘Akuf-Addo’s Comments Against CSO’s ‘Unfortunate And Disappointing’ – Political Analyst
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Political Analyst, Samuel Boateng has expressed disappointment in President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s comments against some Civil Society Groups (CSOs) as ‘politicians in CSOs clothing’.

The president at a meeting with members of the Ghana Anti-corruption Coalition at the Jubilee House, on Wednesday August 18, 2021. Mr. Akufo-Addo assured the CSOs: “I’ve not shirked, in any way, my commitment that we should try and develop a state whose agencies act not in the personal interest of those who man them at any given time but in the interest of those who they serve”.

However, in an interview on Plan B FM ‘Ebaanosen’ with Bohyeba Afriyie, Mr. Boateng said he was shocked at the comments by President Akufo-Addo describing it as ‘unfortunate and dissapointing’.

He said he didn’t expect the president to speak in the manner in which he did, adding that the government should inculcate the habit of embracing criticism in its mandate to serve Ghanaians.

“To be honest, the president’s comments is unfortunate and disappointing. On a political front, I disagree with him completely. I believe he should have paid enough attention to the message the CSOs put across, rather than tagging them as his political opponents. The President show know that he is the father and leader of the country not for a certain group of people. Criticism helps to keep leaders in check, so I expect the president to be more accommodating of criticism no matter how scathing it is,” he stated.

He further advised the government to create an atmosphere that is more tolerant of criticism and devoid of intimidation in order for the media, CSOs and individuals to freely express themselves and contribute to national discourse.
