Political analyst Mr. Alex Emmanuel Nti has stated that we need experts to take charge of leadership in some of the institutions in the country and not act of political expediencies.

Reacting to former MASLOC boss’s call for a review of the operations of the Volta River Authority (VRA), on Plan B FM’s morning show NKOSUONSEM hosted by Obidehye Kofi Sekyi, Mr. Nti urged the government to always make sure that people appointed to certain positions are experts who fit that position and can deliver to expectations because recent VRA operations that caused the spillage should have been avoided if management did comprehensive analysis before opening the dam.

He stressed that heads of state institutions must be innovative in their department to help achieve certain goals for the country.
“if you are not innovative in your department, you can not exceed the expected goals” he added.

The 2024 Parliamentary Candidate for Okaikoi North Constituency on the ticket of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Maame Afua Akoto has underscored the need for reviewing the operations of the Volta River Authority (VRA) to improve its accountability.

“I think over the past years, the VRA has been reluctant in carrying out its duties, hence, it should be more accountable than it has been.”

She expressed her dissatisfaction with the VRA’s lack of proactiveness in limiting spillage, stating that, if action had been taken earlier, the overflow could have been managed more effectively.

“Although the VRA did their mandatory tasks in a way, I feel that a greater level of effort could have averted the spillage or ensured better control of the situation,’ she stressed.

The former deputy Chief Executive Officer of MASLOC suggested that the management of the VRA should consider the rudimentary knowledge and skills of its current employees and replace them with well-informed individuals for progressive work.

“If the current engineers responsible for making calculations toward an overflow or spillage systems are rusty, they should be dropped and replaced with fresh blood.

“In other words, the youth who are more knowledgeable in these sectors must be deployed to avoid further complications,” she suggested.
