Akim Oda Community Health Nurse’s Training School in the Birim Central Municipality of Eastern region have made passionate appeal to the government and philanthropist to come to the aid of the college.

The school lack infrastructure facilities to accommodate students and staff in the school.

In an interview with Plan-B FM, the Principal of Akyem Oda Community Health Nurse’s Training School, Mr. Jones Abekah Baah noted that the school’s challenges needs urgent support to be able to reverse the current trend.

He has therefore appealed to government, Non-Governmental Organizations (NGO’s) and citizens of Akyem Oda both home and abroad to come to their rescue and added that the provision of a school bus and some infrastructure to accommodate nursing students would go a long to solve the many challenges the face now.

He revealed that a donated school bus by the Japanese government way back in 1989 which is over 32years cannot carry their nursing students for clinical. He continued that the school has changed its engine for well over six time and quickly pointed out the current state of the bus is bad and a new one needs to be acquired to mitigate their transportation problems.

Away from the school bus which according to him is very important, Mr. Abekah Baah mentioned that other infrastructure are need so to be able to accommodate nursing students especially for new students who have been admitted to read the school’s newly introduced courses. He mentioned some of the new courses as midwifery and degree in Public Health.

Mr. Jones Abekah Baah made this call during the school’s 13th matriculation held in Akyem Oda CHNTS campus.

Taking his turn to address a gathering at the function, he advised both nursing students and staff nurses to value their profession by working wholeheartedly. He urged them to develop a much better way of communicating with patients who visit their medical facilities for treatment and added that it is one of the surest ways of maintaining a good image for themselves and the various medical facilities they work for.
