Airbus bribery scandal: Amidu Requests Government To Offer Adam Mahama Chance To Return To Ghana

The Office of the Special Prosecutor says it has written to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration asking it to offer Samuel Adam Foster, also known as Adam Mahama, the opportunity to accept to voluntary evacuate from the UK and return to Ghana as investigations into the Airbus bribery scandal continue.

There is a flight scheduled on July 27, 2020 for stranded Ghanaians in UK due to the boarder closure.

The office in a statement sighted by Plan B FM said, it was urgently Adam Mahama is allowed to answer for the accusations against him in the scandal.

He is being charged with accepting a bribe to influence a public officer and acting in collaboration with a public officer for the public officer’s private profit in Ghana’s courts.

Interpol then issued a red alert for his arrest after a demand by the Special Prosecutor, Martin Amidu.

The special prosecutor’s office have disclosed that it was very important for the depoliticization of the case, therefore for the office to request the ministry of foreign affairs to ask the high commission in the UK to urgently facilitate the voluntary evacuation of Adam Mahama .

“…Until Samuel Mahama answers in Court for the suspected allegations discovered by the investigation of this Office against him as a Ghanaian citizen, the unwarranted politicization of this simple corruption crime by his family and supporters will continue.”. The statement said.

The voluntary evacuation is also to “assuage not only his own image but also that of his brother the former President (John Mahama), who accuses this Office (of the Special Prosecutor) of tainting his image by the investigation of the suspected allegations,” the statement added.
