Aggrieved distributors of Dangote Cement are calling on the Minister of Trade and Industry, Alan Kyeremanten to conduct a thorough investigation into the dealings and operations of Dangote Cement factory in Ghana over what they say is an attempt to defraud distributors and customers.
According to them, the current management of Dangote Cement factory have refused to make delivery of some goods they paid for some months ago.
“We made payments for over 2,000 bags of cement in May, 2021, when it was time to deliver the bags of cement to us, the company told us they were facing some difficulties in acquiring the raw materials needed for the production of the cement”. They disclosed this on Plan B FM ‘Nkosuo Nsem’ with Ohene Addo
According to them, due to the aforementioned, the company went on a break without delivering to its distributors the bags of cement they paid for, and have refused to refund their monies back to them.
“We just woke up one day and we heard that Dangote was back into full operation and distribution after it went on a break, so we also went to the managing director of the company to find out on when our goods will be delivered since we made payment before the company went on break”, they stressed.
“So, when we got to the managing director, he asked us to pay additional balance to the money paid already because, there have been an increase in the price of materials so the money we paid can’t purchase the quantity of cement bags we requested and paid for in May 2021”, they indicated further
The group indicted that; this acts by the management of the company is an attempt to rip them off their business start-up funds.
“We have worked with Dangote Cement since its establishment in Ghana, however the management of the company are trying to defraud us with some decisions that is unpleasant and unacceptable. These monies are overdrafts; some of our members have left the country and their families because of Dangote and his company. Don’t we have qualified people to head Dangote Operations in the country than to opt for a Beninois and other foreign nationals? It’s only in Ghana this can happen, how can we be treated like this in our own country”, they fumed.
They are therefore pleading with the Trade and Industry Minister, Mr. Alan Kyeremanten as a matter of urgency to come to their aid to enable them retrieve their monies from the company.
