Students in the STEM Department at Afua Kobi Apem Girls’ Senior High School have successfully built and designed a surveillance drone prototype, named Josephine, for the Ghana Air Force.

The drone, developed by an all-girls team, is intended for use in border surveillance and the distribution of military logistics.

According to one of the students involved in the project, it can be used to monitor border areas and deliver essential supplies such as food, medicine, weapons, and drills to military personnel, particularly those stationed in remote areas.

In a post shared on X by SIKA OFFICIAL on April 17, 2025, the student said, “It’s a surveillance drone that we made for the Air Force, Ghana Air Force. We want to have a collaboration with them, so we went there last year to show our project to them.”

She continued, “This drone can be used to survey the borders and then send drills, weapons, medicines, and food supplies to the Air Force personnel at the borders and the military people.”

Speaking about the cost involved in the project, she stated, “It took about GH¢30,000.”
