The Minority Leader in Parliament, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, has accused the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) of hypocrisy over its handling of the controversial anti-LGBTQ bill.
He made the comments at a press briefing in Accra marking one year of the Minority’s scrutiny of Parliament.
Speaking to the media, Mr Afenyo-Markin said the NDC actively campaigned for the bill before taking office, engaging religious leaders, traditional authorities, and communities nationwide, but has since remained silent, using parliamentary procedures to stall its passage.
He also criticised the government for allegedly introducing content promoting sexual rights into parts of the national curriculum, calling it a contradiction of the party’s earlier public stance.
