A housemaster at Achimota Senior High School has threatened to take legal action against a student who allegedly made false claims of sexual harassment and sextortion. The teacher, whose identity has been withheld pending legal processes, described the accusations as “completely baseless and damaging” to his reputation.
According to sources, the student reportedly filed a complaint alleging misconduct, prompting an internal investigation by the school authorities. However, preliminary findings suggest that the claims may have been fabricated, leading the housemaster to consider filing a lawsuit for defamation.
Legal experts say cases of false accusations in schools can have severe consequences, not only for the accuser but also for the accused, who may suffer reputational harm, emotional distress, and professional setbacks. The housemaster emphasized that he is determined to clear his name and hold those responsible accountable.
School administrators have reportedly called for calm while the matter is formally investigated, urging students and staff to refrain from spreading unverified information. “It is crucial that allegations are treated seriously, but also verified thoroughly to prevent injustices,” a spokesperson said.
The case has sparked debate among parents, students, and social media users about the responsibilities of students, teachers, and school authorities in handling sensitive issues. Many stress the importance of balancing protection for genuine victims with safeguards against false claims that can ruin careers and lives.
As investigations continue, all eyes are on Achimota SHS to ensure that due process is followed and that the outcome serves justice while maintaining the integrity of the school’s disciplinary system.
