News coming in indicates that one person has lost her life as a result of the heavy downpour on Sunday, 5th June, 2022.

According to report as sighted by Citi TV, the deceased is a trader who sells maize at the area. Eye witness told Citi News that the deceased tried to retrieve her slippers which was closer to a gutter. She mistakenly fell into the gutter. The pressure of the water pulled her through the gutter into the drain and resulted in this unfortunate incident.

The body of the girl, whose name is given as Mary Ashamatey has been retrieved by the Tesano Police pending investigations and other security measures.

The issue of Accra and other parts of the country flooding is not a new case. Many lives have been lost as a result of flooding. Government has put in place some measures but they all seem not to be working. Flooding occurs in Accra each year which destroys lives and properties.

There have been series of complaints by citizens but the government does only little about them. Government has also urged citizens to stop littering around as it the main cause of flooding in Accra.
