Ablakwa demands dissolution of National Cathedral Secretariat

National Cathedral Project “Suspended” As Contractor Lays Off Workers Despite GHC200 Million Payment
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

The Bible says a laborer deserves his wages, but Member of Parliament (MP) for North Tongu Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa doesn’t think the laborers at the National Cathedral Secretariat deserve their wages.

The MP who has been on a crusade against what he terms corruption in the execution of the project has called for the immediate dissolution of the National Cathedral Secretariat.

According to him, even though the project has stalled, the state is still losing money through the payment of salaries of the staff and management of the Secretariat.

Member of the Board of Trustees Dr. Joyce Aryee has however justified the continuous payment of the salaries of management and staff of the Secretariat.

But speaking to Parliamentary Correspondent Ibrahim Alhassan, the chairman of the Government Assurance Committee questioned the basis for such payments given the fact that the project has been halted.
