A two-storey building in Obuasi has burnt down after it caught fire in the early hours of the day. The building belonged to a Chinese with most of its inhabitants being Chinese. When the fire started, some gas cylinders in the building started to explode which intensified the fire.

According to an eyewitness who took footage of the incident, it took personnel from the Fire Serve over an hour to arrive at the scene after they were called when the fire started. He added that by the time they arrived, the whole building was on fire.

The cars which had been parked at the parking lot of the compound have to be conveyed with forklifts because they had been locked and the keys to the cars had been burnt in the fire.
