The victims, Mrs Felicia Owusu, 45; Obed Owusu, 11; and Christabel Owusu, 9, were trapped in the room during the inferno.

Firefighters who were called to the scene were able to salvage five out of the nine-bedroom apartment engulfed in the blaze.

The cause of the fire is not yet known but the regional Public Relations Officer for the Ghana National Fire Service, DOIII Peter Addai told Accra base Class FM that they have commenced investigations to ascertain the cause of the fire.

The charred bodies have been deposited at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital morgue for preservation while the injured have been admitted to the same hospital.
