A 19-year-old John Agyare known to his peers as Atta drowned in the swimming pool of Life Hotel.

The incident occurred Monday night, 26th December 2022 located at Ahwiaa Overseas in the Kwabre East Municipal of the Ashanti Region.

The deceased, Atta left home with his other siblings and friends to attend the picnic.

“11pm, I had a call from one of the boys he went with that, he has been admitted at the Trinity hospital after a failed swimming,” Senior Sister disclosed.

A sobbing younger brother narrates, “Atta drowned after he attempted to swim at a depth of 9 feet in the pool this evening. We came around 7pm, the people were already leaving so I told him we should go back but he insisted we swim for a while before we go home even though it was so cold.

“He pushed me into the water and followed up. I saw myself struggling to come out but someone helped me out, but he was swimming to the amazement of all, but later realized he was nowhere to be found so I asked those in the water but none gave me a positive answer.”

According to him, he announced through the MC and a quick search saw him under the water, an attempt to resuscitate him proved futile.

He was rushed to the Trinity hospital at Pankrono where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

The Manponten police were called to the scene and picked up the body and deposited it at the Ebenezer mortuary pending investigation.

The management of the Life Hotel in a voice conversation with this portal said they are helping the police through the investigation and hope for a resolution.
