A 37-year-old man has reportedly committed suicide by jumping into the River Pra.

The incident occurred at Twifo Cocoa Ase in the Twifo Ati-Morkwa District of the Central Region.

The reason for the young man’s river jump remains unclear, but some residents believe it was due to a broken heart.

Community members launched a search for him, but all efforts by the community members to locate him have been an exercise in futility.

He has been identified as Kwame Adomakoh, a.k.a. Rasta.

They alleged that the girlfriend he came into the community with is now dating a different person, which they believe had an impact on his emotions.

Meanwhile, the Adontenhene of Twifo Darmang, Nana Kwasi Badu, who poured libation to assist in locating the victim, revealed that the victim last night (April 9, 2024) rushed to the police station to hand himself over to the police keep him in custody.

However, the police believed the victim had not committed any crime to be kept in custody.

They therefore refused to accept his plea.

He then ran to throw himself into the river around 8 p.m. yesterday.

The search still continues, he explained to Nyankonton Mu Nsem on Rainbow Radio 87.5 FM.

The Assemblymember for Cocoa Ase Electoral Area, Mr. Daniel Afriyie, indicated that it is rumoured that the victim committed that act out of a broken heart, but he cannot confirm it since the investigation is currently ongoing.
